Springmead Stud Farm has always trained horses.  In the beginning it was harness horses used to take Edward Hirst to the train each morning. Marjory Hirst rode and trained her personal hacks to wins at Royal Shows.  When Edward an Marjory Hirst invented Polocrosse the hacks were trained to play polocrosse.  The children's ponies were educated (and no doubt educated the children) and if a horse was needed for a particular job it to was trained.
Now we train not only our horses but use the generations of experience to train your horse.
Luke Stuart-Smith is our head Trainer and fourth generation in the stud,  and is lucky enough to have been mentored not only by the family but such wonderful horsemen as Ron & Val Males and  Anthony Mountney.  Luke has also been schooled by Andrew Lewis and currently Cathy Radhart (who trained with the legendary Nuno Oliverio).  Luke has been inspired by Richard Sharman in his ability to assess a horse so quickly and build on that horse's attributes.
At Springmead we already offer a fixed price training package, as we to do feel that other methods of pricing for training are financially un fair for the owner. We do feel as though people should be able to budget and organise their finances prior to receiving a bill of a set price.
